I trained as a primary school teacher 20 years ago, starting my career in London and then I taught in a range of schools in the Midlands.

In between teaching jobs I trained as an Ofsted inspector and I worked as a national in-service provider, project manager, writer and editor.

I also had a spell teaching in Norway at Nesna University College.

My specialist area is primary maths but I also love teaching science and English.

I have written a number of books and contributed well over 1000 articles, features, reviews and curriculum projects to various bodies, magazines, journals and institutions including:

Teach Primary, Teach Secondary, SecEd, Playtimes, Creative Teaching and Learning, K'NEX Education, Rising Stars, Teacher Training Agency, Basic Skills Agency, The Times Educational Supplement, The Mathematics Coordinator's File, Junior Education, Numeracy Time, Primary Maths and Science, Literacy and Learning, Interactive, Primary Leadership, Special Needs Coordinator's File, Continuous Professional Development, Mathematics in Schools, Mathematics Teaching, The Teacher, Five To Eleven, Teaching Expertise, Primary Mathematics, Infinity, Association of Science Education, Primary Choice, NCETM...and many more.
